Trevolta Scam: Crowd-Funded Travel website Is a Fraud

Is Trevolta a scam

[ Trevolta Startup wants you to pay for your friends adventures…Fuck that! ]

The internet is a buzz  surrounding this new “Travel Company” called Trevolta. The company claims to be a Crowdfunding platform to ‘Plan an extraordinary trip and get it funded by inspired people, amazed friends, and generous sponsors.’

REALLY?  Like REALLY PEOPLE? Wake the fuck up.

This is a complete fucking joke.

Sure the concept sounds amazing, who wouldn’t want a free/subsidized trip of a life time. I would definitely think about reaching in my wallet for someone who excitedly says “BUY MY TRIP FOR ME… CAUSE IM MORE AWESOME THAN YOU.”  But let’s be realistic people, tell me which one of your friends is thinking “Fuck it, Erica deserves to go on a trip more than I do, Im gonna give her money to go out there and have the time of her life.”

PSH… GET SERIOUS PEOPLE.

Erica’s going to be just like the other several thousand people falling for this hype, trying to sneak their own reference code to their facebook and twitter accounts in hopes for a “Free $50 Towards a trip.”

The truth is, Ericas gonna be shit out of luck, because realistically the bottom line is that no one is going to pay for someone else to have fun… WHY? Because they want to pay for their own trip.

OOOOOH BUT THERE IS A CATCH

YOU CAN PAY THEM TO DO

“Quirky Things For You”….

The fact that WHY WOULD SOMEONE SPONSOR MY TRIP is the first FAQ should be a telling sign of this complete failure. Trevolta responds by saying that “Sponsors” are looking for extraordinary, unique, and unforgettable trips which would be followed by hundreds and thousands of people. SURE SOUNDS SWEET… Not to be logical here or anything, but I sure as fuck wont be paying my friends, let alone some random person to hug a cambodian on the street, in order to gain access to their breast milk.

ACTUALLY – if this was the case, I would probably throw down some cash, cause that shit would be funny. BUT – this is not the case.

Sure there may be a few people “worthy” of funding on a trip, some comedians, some funny people that are killing it on vine, but the vast majority of these people thinking that by signing up for Trevolta will somehow get them a free trip down the line, are going to be sadly mistaken, and have been played for a fool.

But Is Trevolta Really Stupid?

No, Trevolta in some sense is smart. I applaud their ability to go Viral and scam all these excited individuals. Trevolta now have thousands upon thousands of emails to use as buying power to source to different travel companies around the world. So in reality, these guys are brilliant to create something viral and build up a data base of emails to either sell, or have to create a company pivot with. However, right now this company as it stands, is doomed for complete failure, and a bunch of angry, disappointed fanboys.

Our Theory

This whole campaign was done by a travel company to collect hundreds of thousands of emails of people interested in travel. They have a great set of data, and emails of those who are interested in traveling and they did this by use of viral campaign [All of this is done without a CAPTCHA to block spammers and make it legitimate].

Several weeks down the road, this “Trevolta” company will slowly disappear into the abyss, but the emails collected and information gathered will be in their hands, as they laugh their way to the bank. GET SERIOUS PEOPLE – Sure in theory this company promises gold, free trips, awesome adventures; THE REALITY is – these guys are scam artists and this is a completely flawed ploy by some malicious company.

  1. Trevolta is an amazing idea. You clearly don’t understand the concept of Crowd Funding. It costs me nothing to give someone $1 towards this awesome trip that they are planning and if 1000 people thought the same way like me then some lucky person will have $1000 towards their trip. It is as simple as that. And that is fundamental concept about Trevolta. So before you slander a company and their service offering, I suggest you do some research.

I am using Trevolta for my upcoming road trip and it working so well. You know what I love about it the most, is the fact that the Trevolta team are so hands on and the fact they will go above and beyond to help you. Super amazing!

  2. How exactly is any of that a scam? First, it sounds like you have not even signed up or tried this out for yourself to even make that assessment. People crowd-source all the time, from expensive medical treatments to film productions to fundraisers, start-ups, and more. I’m not sure why you would think this is any different. While I am not sure any of my friendly would throw exorbitant amounts of cash my way to I can lounge on the French Riviera or backpack in Thailand, that would be their choice if they did. Maybe you are a charitable person or somebody who doesn’t have the time or desire but lives vicariously through others’ trips. There are even dating websites that’s primary purpose it to connect sad, lonely rich men with women whom they can spend their cash on- again, their choice. Seeing a pattern here? Sounds like somebody is a bit bitter here.

  3. You might be right, but what’s the loss? Did any of these ‘scammed fools’ pay for signing up? Does none of them know how to filter out spam from their inboxes? Do you think people haven’t been forced to part with their email ids to database aggregators for a lesser perceived reward otherwise? Is that really something worth calling people ‘stupid’ for?

I felt quite repulsed at the tone of this article – like thoroughly. I know you guys are probably right about whatever you have posted here, but for whatever it’s worth, I think for the 0.001% chance that this might work out, it isn’t such a bad reason to sign up for it! I’m not sure there’s any reason to write a condescending post like this, intended at making most of those who signed up for this ‘scam’ feel like massive idiots, except for the same reason that this ‘scam’ was initiated – sensationalize!

Well done, but from one content creator to another, this post is just in as much distaste as Trevolta!

  4. @Palash – Hey man, we agree…. and we are firm believers in Tight Startups. The idea of this startup is…. well, tight as fuck. But its not happening, if it does… feel free to talk shit to us, we will be the first ones to apologize for being wrong.

  5. I don’t mind giving my ID. Spam as much as you want. Gmail will filter you out. At the same time, if this company works, it’ll be a tight slap on you face. We cool? Good.
